We are thrilled to introduce Jenna, the newest member of our CALM team! Jenna brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion for child development and social and emotional learning (SEL). Her expertise will strengthen our collective mission to support children, families, and educators in building resilience, emotional literacy, and compassionate communities.
🎓 A Strong Foundation in SEL and Child Development

Jenna has earned a PhD and Masters of Arts (MA) in Human Development, Learning, and Culture from UBC, and a BA in Behavioural Neuroscience. She has specialized in the social and emotional well-being of children and the adults who support them, coordinating large-scale SEL research studies in BC schools. Her career includes teaching at UBC, consulting for organizations across the province, providing workshops and training sessions with teachers and parents, and contributing to influential projects at HELP with the Early Development Instrument (EDI) and SFU’s CHART lab with the Youth Development Instrument (YDI).
🌟 Jenna’s Role as CALM Facilitator
As CALM Facilitator, Jenna will be leading trainings, communities of practice, and collaborative learning sessions that bring the CALM Early Care and Learning Framework to life. Teachers, parents, and early childhood educators will have the opportunity to learn directly from Jenna’s expertise in social and emotional learning, gaining practical strategies to support children’s well-being and their own.
With an extensive background in research, evaluation, and curriculum design, Jenna will support the team in translating evidence-informed science and research into engaging activities, coaching tips and accessible resources that make SEL meaningful in classrooms, childcare settings, and homes. Jenna will also be authoring blog postings called CALM Corner, where she will share insights, strategies, and stories that inspire educators, parents, and caregivers to bring social and emotional learning to life in their daily practice.
Working alongside Jenna means joining a vibrant, supportive network where knowledge is shared, creativity is sparked, and every participant feels empowered to nurture resilience and compassion in the children they care for.
💡 Passion for Thriving Communities
At the heart of Jenna’s work is a deep commitment to helping young people thrive. She empowers children to know their hearts and minds, develop strategies to cope with life’s stressors, and grow into compassionate citizens. Equally, she is dedicated to supporting the adults who care for them—providing knowledge, strategies, and encouragement for their own well-being and the development of the children in their care.
✨ Please join us in giving Jenna a warm welcome!
We are excited to learn from her expertise, celebrate her passion, and grow together as we continue to expand CALM’s reach and impact. To read more of Jenna's bio please visit our CALM Team page
